Renewal of my passport

I was looking for my renewal of passport from Jan'11 and I was literally roaming between doors to doors (Police station, COP, Passport office, Kendra office, customer care, etc) but nothing helped me.

When finally I approached RTI forum to know the process & links, it really helped me to get my passport this week.
Finally, I received my new passport (renewed) one yesterday after nearly 1.8 years.

Really, raising the query through RTI helped....

Reason police told me was I gave a wrong station name in my form (Bannerghatta road in bangalore has 4-5 police stations and it seems it has gone one of them). Even if I have given wrongly, someone from that station would have called/mailed me and routed to correct division/area. I feel that If I have not approached through RTI, i will be looking for my renewal of passport in vain.

Now, with my experience I share this to all my friends/neighbours on the "essence and significance" of RTI and encourage them to use it.
