Default Applicability of rules framed by State Government in the State.

Information was sought from Nationa Insurance Company Ltd., A PSU Company having branch offices at West Bengal through RTI application affixing a court fee stamp of Rs10/- (which is permitted by W.B. RTI rules). The Company rejected the prayer saying proper fees (IPO/DD) was not affixed.
Please confirm whether state rules is applied only on state government offices.

RTI Rules applicable for Central Govt. PSUs and State Govt. PSUs are different, irrespective of the geographical location of the PSU.

National Insurance Company Ltd. is a PSU under the Central Govt. and therefore Central RTI Rules & Fees would apply.

    Please be guided by:

    Central Govt. application:

    Make effective:
    http://www.rtiindia.org/forum/blogs/...effective.html

Word Limit: Since there is limit of 500 total words [excluding both addresses and annexures] for Central Govt information, you may submit more than one application to cover all the queries and mail in one envelope

WB RTI rules are applicable to WB govt information. Above Ins Co is of Central Govt and hence you have to follow Central Govt RTI rules. For detailed state wise rules please refer http://www.rtiindia.org/guide/index.php
