I am new to this group. And would like to get clarified on the following issue. I need to get community certificate for my son who is doing schooling in Chennai now. I have submitted the application for the same in the local Thasildhar office with all the required documents, like copies of our ration card, his last school's transfer certificate and both the parents community certificate. However, since my son was born in USA, they were not sure whether they can issue the community certificate to him. We even have OCI for him. I have been asked to come back on Monday, with the copy of his OCI (Overseas Citizanship India) to complete the submission.

Can anyone please shed some light on this? Is it not possible to get community certificate for children of Indian origin, who have born in foreign countries, but came back to India for good and settled here & doing education here. I appreciate your valuable input on this matter.
