Information: If no reply to RTI, what next

I mail a information letter with a postal order to The D. M. of hathras through speed post abt 10 days ago and i can't get any answer yet so please give me information abt what's the limit of answer reply and also told me if answer is not come in limited time period then what's my next step in RTI procedure

As per the RTI Act, a PIO gets 30 days from the date of its receipt, to respond to a RTI application.

So wait for 30 days + 5 to 7 days for postal delivery time i.e. total = 35 / 37 days for a response from a PIO to reach you.

If you do not get a response within 37 days or alternately if you do get a response within 37 days but are not satisfied with the correctness of PIO's response, then you have to file a First Appeal with the concerned First Appellate Authority.

Here D.M. will endorse the RTI Communique to PIO of the district and then its processing will be made by PIO . If sought information is concerned with the department PIO , then public information clerk of will process the communique otherwise it will be transferred to department concern under subsection 3 of section 6 of transparency act.
