Sales Tax registration delay
I have applied for TIN and CST registration in our local Taxation Authority 2 months back. I have visited the concerned office several times and came to know that one officer has demanded Rs.6000/- for the same or my registration will be pending. In the same office, I have lodged a complaint to his higher officer but all are packed from top to bottom. I am helpless. Please guide me what to do. Can I apply for RTI? Is it applicable to Sales Tax Authority? Does it come in section 8 or 9 of the RTI act?
Thanking you.
Asif

Re: Sales Tax registration delay
You can definitely resort to RTI. Its main purpose is to contain corruption and delay. Pl visit my blog at http://www.rtiindia.org/forum/blogs/...ding-govt.html. Since sales tax is a state matter, U have to follow state RTI rules as to format and fees. These rules are available on State Govt website under RTI icon or that of Information Commission. All the best.Sponsorer

Re: Sales Tax registration delay
Dr. Asif,
You can apply to the SPIO in your Sales Tax Office where you applied for the TIN and CST Number.
Your RTI application has to be as per the RTI Rules and Fees for Assam. These are available in the Guide section of the forum: RTI Guide
The Guide section also has useful articles about how to draft an application, how to submit, fees and mode of payment, etc.
Baically you can ask for information about your application and the day to day progress.
If you so wish, please draft a application and post it here. Our helpful members will guide you for any changes, if necessary.
