Question What is da benefit of the transperancy in adminstration?

    Hi everybody!
I have a very basic question!! about RTI that, what else the RTI is for in addition to introduce the transparency in adminstration?!!

looks strange, isn't it? but i have a very strong reason for asking the same?

recently i hv applied thru RTI for the details of processing the insurance claims that they receive in karnataka govt's insuramce dept. and thru their reply, i understand that they have processed claims purely arbitrarily.

do i hv any option in RTI a) to know why they hv not processed according to seniority of the claim appln? b) to punish them for being partial( in the sense that, since i hvn't approached them for the speedy settllement by paying them the bribe or so and settlled the claims for those who applied late and bribed them or so)?

if so - does it mean RTI is meant for only to introduce tranparency?
    please let me know

Transparency is a great tool to fight corruption, get justice, fight arbitrariness etc.

In your case you can invoke sec 4(1)(d) to demand reasons for the action taken by the Public Authority.

Sec 4(1)(d) :Every public authority shall—
provide reasons for its administrative or quasi-judicial decisions to affected persons.
