    Can anybody help me to know how would I get a duplicate birth certificate
    I am born in Mumbai.

    Duplicate copy - Birth Certificate

    dear all,

    I myself born in Mumbai in the yrs 1978, my parents had submitted birth certificate in my school during my admission in primary school, know i am not having any original proof of citizen of Mumbai. nor having LC Copy and not having ration card (lost by me, but having duplicate copy of rationcard), as know i have to apply for duplicate birth certificate as
    i am having lot of confusion regarding Duplicate Birth Certificate
    1) from where i will get Birth Certificate - duplicate
    2) what the documentation required.
    3) how much time it takes..
    4) how much it will cost.

    Welcome to this portal. Getting copies of birth certificate is easy. U have to apply with the ward office of bombay municipal corporation from where U got origianl copy, pay some nominal fee and have it. There is nothing like duplicate in case of death or birth or marriage certificate. U can have as many original copies as U want on payment of charges for each copy. In fact photocopies of these certificates are not legally valid. Only first original or second original or third original like-wise are valid.
