The Action Group to Right To Information (AGRI) of Lucknow is organizing a One Day “NATIONAL SEMINAR” on Right to Information on 11th. April 2009 at NBRI Auditorium, Lucknow from 10.00 am onwards.
The Seminar intends to discuss whether the RTI Act- 2005 in the present form needs some basic changes or not so that it becomes more effective. What can be these changes, if you have any suggestion they are most welcome.
The next aspect we intend to discuss threadbare the function of various State Information Commissions especially of U. P. State Information Commission and how to make them more people friendly.
Should there be some representation of RTI Activists in the selection of State Information Commissioners.
Whether the Rulings given by Central Information Commission be binding on State Information Commissions.
Whether the Central Information Commission be like Central Information Commission of India.
Should there be time limit for delivering a decision in SECOND APPEAL by the Commission.
Should First Appellate Authority be an outside of the Organisation to which PIO belongs and should First Appellate Authority be held responsible.
What ought too be more transparent procedure for appointment of IC’s.
Should the definition of “Person of Eminance” be specic and if yes what it should be.
Like this there can be many more other points that we can discuss.
We would like to share your ideas so that we can include it in our discussion.
However if any Activist or individual is interested to attend the forthcoming Convention he is most cordially invited.
