Namaskar,

im santo, from Hyderabad. This is a query abt a 110 SqYrd land that we acquired from Gram Panchayat about 20 ysr ago,. But know the local politicians are trying to grab the land by deceit ( land is still under our possession ) as we hardly have any info on the actual on the land.

Documents under our possession :

1. Map of land on a cloth with area details.
2. A letter from Gram Panchayat, with 'SEAL' regarding the disbursement of the same to us.

Need to Know :

1. where ( which department ) to file RTI Application to get details regarding the land records.

2. how to find out about the PIO .

i would really appreciate guidnace in this regards and wait for your reply.

Regards,
Santo

Hi Santosh

Welcome to RTI India. Please go through the Need Help? section & FAQ at the bottom of this page for more information about RTI Act. Also please read - RTI Guide

Since the land is acquired by you, necessary records shall be available with the Sub Registrar of the area in which the land situated. If the land is allotted to you by the Gram Panchayat, the records regarding this allotment will be available with gram panchayat itself. You have to find out whether it is a lease transfer for 20 years or so.
Otherwise also, you become the owner by adverse possession. So many legal issues are involved. It would be better to consult a lawyer practicing in Civil Matters in your area and get his expert advise.

Thumbs up Re: Land Records

Raveena ,

Thank you so much for quick response

Small Clarification :

But before, consulting a lawyer, i would like to get all the information regarding the land.,

-- Going to panchayat office, will not be useful ( Local politicians ), so r u suggesting me to go to Sub registrar office and submit RTI application and i can get complete details of the land records and probably then consult a lawyer.

appreciate u taking time to reply.

Regards,
Santo

Re: Land Records

in this case first you have to take concerned file from village panchayat. If there is no record in the village panchayat it will be very difficult. Hope you are paying property tax, if yes plz apply for the tax paid details of that property which will be of great help.

In sub registrar office, apply for encumbrance certificate first, if any entries are there take certified copies of that document, for this RTI is not necessary, normal course of application will suffice your purpose.
