Dear Dr. Kushal Pathak, My mobile phone is picked pocket in Bus. I have registered a complain in police station. I have got duplicate SIM from vodafone but they are denying to track my mobile phone through IMEI number. They are saying phone can not be tracked. The following things are getting repeated. 1) Vodafone people said the handset maker can trace the phone. So call and ask them to trace. 2) Handset maker motorola is saying only service provider can trace it. They can circulate the IMEI number to all service providers in India. 3) Police is saying this is the responsibility of network service provider to circulate the IMEI number across networks. Can you please tell me who is really responsible? Everyone is trying to save their skin. I want to take a legal step for responsible authority who are avoiding their responsibility. If Vodafone is correct then how it is possible to ban Chinese mobile in India? Definitely the handset maker (Here Chinese company) will not block their phone. Let us try to teach the concern authority very nicely so from the next time they will not avoid their responsibility. Now a days it is really very serious issue and Govt is also very careless on such issue. I think there is no rule on this. If it is there then it might not be very transparent. I can see millions on threads, articles on IMEI number which are really useless. All of these are theory. Practical situation is 180 degree opposite from the theory. It is really hard to find out the responsible authority. Thanks&Regards, Ashish |
