On monday, I just went to Income Tax office at bangalore office. I met a officer and requested for an IT document of my wife. She is currently working in a engineering college and earning handsome salary. We are living seperately from past 4 years. After seval attempts she didn't turned up. Now, i have applied for divorce. After this attempt, now she is asking maintenance which is beyond my earning. I live in a rented house whereas she live in her father's own house. I believe she also has a house in her name. From that property, i even hope she is earning good rent also. In this regard, I was seeking her IT returns. So that, i get some information about her assets which i can use in my case. But the official is telling that such records can not be given since it is for personal purpose. The RTI act is only for social cause he told. Now, i am confused "whether I can get the records or not" Anybody who is having such experience, please suggest me thank u      |

IT returns are deposited by tax-payers with the IT authorities in a fiduciary relationship. Under the RTI Act such information are exempted from disclosure. |
