Inspection of files under RTI

Can Any Body Tell:

(1) To Inspect The Files At Cpio, Can We Take Our Advisers While Going To Inspect.

(2) Can We Authorise Any Body To Inspect Insted Of Us.

Please Tell.

As a matter of safe guarding yourself from the cpio preventing your accompanying person, you can intiate the process in your RTI application itself, a few auestions to be framed for the same are:

*Who would be the staff/officer from your side who would identify me the files when I come to inspect along with my friend?

*Who would sign the file inspection report from your side along with myself and a public witness who would accopmany me.

1. There is no such thing as a "File Inspection Report" under RTI.
But many times whenever I have inspected files, the PIO or the officer concerned has written a one page short note stating that so and so inspected so and so file under the RTI act on....etc.....
And then both of us sign it. This must be to ensure that the applicant does not say at a later stage that he was not allowed to inspect the file.

I believe it more kind of informal thing which CPIO do to ensure that at later date they are not charged that they have denied file inspection. Further, for calculating the additional cost of inspection for extended time that will be handy

rakatkamji, is there really any role for advisers while collecting information? you know what you want, you can go to the pio and take it. other people will be a hindrance only. as regards representatives, your representative may not know or may not collect all the information you want. he may leave out something for which you may have to go to the office again. these practical problems can arise.
