As reported in The Deccan Chronicle on 3 February 2008: City News Centre to ensure smoother RTI work Hyderabad, Feb. 2: A national-level resource centre will be opened to ensure better co-ordination among Information Commissions of various states, according to the central information commissioner, Mr M.M. Ansari. The Hyderabad-based Centre for Good Governance will support the Central Information Commission (CIC) in setting up the resource centre and networking of Central and state information commissions, Mr Ansari said. The CIC wants total computerisation of government records so that all information is available to people at the click of a button. “This should also reflect the working of each department,” Mr Ansari said. Addressing a press conference at the end of the national co-ordination committee meeting of information commissioners here, Mr Ansari said they were working on a seven-point agenda of making the Right to Information Act, 2005 more effective. “The thrust of our efforts is to identify major obstacles in the flow of information and outline ways and means to overcome them,” Mr Ansari said. |
