CIC asks AAI to show cause reasons for delay in RTI redressal

New Delhi, Jan 07: Taking a serious note of the failure to respond to a right to information application, the Central Information Commission (CIC) has issued a show cause notice to a senior official of Airports Authority of India (AAI) for providing incomplete information.

The commission was hearing an RTI appeal filed by Anoop Kumar Gupta, a resident of Dwarka in the capital wherein he sought information pertaining to duty hours of executives up to the level of senior managers in various disciplines in AAI.

"The commission has taken a very serious view of this lapse and has decided to issue a show cause notice as penalty to the executive director of the personnel department for providing incomplete information to the appellant", said Information Commissioner O P Kejariwal in a recent order.

The CIC took note of the delay caused at the instance of public information officer AAI, which it termed as a lapse on the part of the official.
