Transfer of vehicles from one state to another

I have moved in from Bangalore to Mumbai. I have a Santro Car with me with Karanataka registration. The vehicle is 7 years old.

I plan to stay in Mumbai for atleast two years.

    1) What does the Transport department rules say with respect to transfer of registration.
    2) Is Maharastra Road tax payable for one year/two years.
    3) How costlier is annual tax when compared to Life time tax.
    4) How much time is available to a citizen when he moves to a new state for registration purpose.
    5. Are traffic police eligible to penalise such vehicles.
    6) Who is the actual authority to check this ?
    7) Who is the authority to report irregularities
    9) Can some one suggest a workable solution for this problem

Generally yhe procedures are notified through the Bill Boards at RTO. There are chechlists which can help you with the proper procedure. You can take the help of the officials/agents/people. Finally you can visit the website of the department to know more about the rules.
