Status of roads, filing RTI

I reside in Palakkad Dist, Kerala State. In our area the roads are terrifically damaged due to the flooding of rain waters. There are a lot of pot holes in the prime locations. Every year, after heavy rains, the roads get damaged and the authorities wait till the rainy season gets over. The public needs to suffer atleast 3 months with this pot holes on the roads. The Kerala High Court has recently condemned the Government and directed the Government to take necessary steps to repair the damaged roads. In this context, my question is, can I file a RTI to make the authorities to immediately attend the problem?

After what has been suggested above, please identify the authorities under whom the maintenace of such roads fall into, the concerned Deapartments/ CPIOs, collect some critical data based on which you may be able to draft effective questions, may be you can get them refined in the forum here and then proceed on with the RTI exercise.

Dear Members,

The road near our house is very poorly damaged and this condition exists for several months now. Hence I sent a complaint to the Panchayat about the existing condition of the road and to take immediate action to rectify the same before two months. Since no action has been taken, I filed a RTI to know the action taken regarding my complaint. The Panchayat has replied that there are several procedures involved in it, like it has to get orders from Grama Sabha, panchayat committee etc etc..... To speed up the process, please guide me how to use the RTI.

Hello Dr. Pradeep,
We appreciate your initiations for the betterment of the common mass usins RTI.
Never feel that your mission was not fruitful.Your application on RTI must have risen the Panchayat authourities into occasion & must be trying to manage the funds for the better cause. Where there is need of funds, it is always associated with certain norms, procedures etc which takes time and need patience.
However if you feel that the panchayat authourities are misutilising/ divert it / making any irregularities than you can ask information under RTI the details of work done during ......./funds alloted-utilised/agreement & work order copy etc & then judge the ground reality .

In my residential area (Palakkad dist, Kerala state) the roads are very poor with lot of potholes etc etc. I had filed a RTI to the Panchayat asking them when will the road repaired. The PIO replied that there are lot of procedures involved in it, like getting the permission of Grama Sabha, Panchayat committee etc etc. To make the work faster, please advise me how to use RTI more effectively. I am herewith attaching the photos of the damaged road.
