MESCOM flouts RTI

<SMALL>BANGALORE: Mangalore Electricity Supply Company (MESCOM) has gone a step forward in flouting RTI as the information officer rejected the KIC summons as not pertaining to him.

The Commission has ordered Superintendent of Panchanally Hussain Khan to provide information free of cost and appear personally before KIC on next hearing.

Khan had not accepted a summons in a case where he had not furnished information on unnecessary billing on Bhagya Jyothi beneficiaries. Though Bhagya Jyothi beneficiaries are to be levied a monthly minimum, MESCOM had sent demand notices for as much as Rs 3,900.
