change of name in case of government employee selected through upsc.

I am a gazetted officer with chandigarh administration. I want to change my name. From which department PIO can I seek information regarding the necessary legal requirements and procedures for this. I have some publications in the form of books and articles, please tell me what is necessary that I continue to have my claim over those publications with my new name. I am scared that if i dont know and follow the exact procedure or dont follow it, it will result it lot of bureaucratic problems, like my PF, pension etc....

Please make a through study of Registration of Birth Act- of Govt of India- and also that of the State concerned (where you were born)- study the relevant RULES- and then follow the prescribed procedures. Also verify with your Deapartment as to the formalities you may have to follow, before embarking on the objective.

Best will be to consult an attorney who is well versed with such procedures.

IT IS NOT CLEAR WHETHER YOU ALREADY HAVE A BIRTH CERTIFICATE REGISTERED WITH YOUR CURRENT NAME IN THE REVENUE JURISDICTION OF YOUR PLACE OF BIRTH.

IN CASE YOU ALREADY HAVE ONE, YOUR REPLACEMENT BIRTH CERTIFICATE WILL HAVE YOUR NEW NAME AS AN "ALIAS" NAME ONLY.

Gazette notification, Affidavit from parents/ self may also have to be prepared.

Exercise is painful but not difficult to achieve if you plan your programme well.

YOU MAY ALSO SEEK INFO FROM CONCERNED REVENUE AUTHORITIES OF YOUR PLACE OF BIRTH THRU RTI CHANNELS IF U SO DESIRE.
