Unanswered: Private Banks

Why private Banks i.e. HDFC Bank,ICICI Bank etc does not comes under RTI Act-2005 ?
All the Banks in our country are under the control of RBI,so how it is possible that private Banks are not appointing PIO.

Re: Private Banks

A mere control by RBI does not make a private bank a Public Authority, as defined under the RTI Act 2005. Please go through Sec 2 (h) of the RTI Act to get a complete version of the definition of Public Authority.
