RTI on Panchayat office

Sir
There is an illegal construction activity going on in our village in the Government land by private persons.I want to know whether the panchayat office of our village has approved the construction of building.Can i make an application undre the RTI to panchayat office or to which is the appropriate authority to write to

Whoever is the sanctioning authority for the construction of buildings in your place, you have to apply to that authority. Please ensure if it comes under Tambaram municipality or your village panchayat. Also ensure that the land in question still remains a govt land.

If these private individuals are politically backed(which normally is the case), there is always possibility of a backlash on you. So it will be better for your to rope in additional support in your locality and ensure that there are many applications from different individuals on the same subject.
