Rules and regulations of Medical Council of India (MCI) Hi,
I am working as an assistant professor in a private medical college for last 4+ years. In past MCI demanded atleast 5 years of experience for promotion to the post of Associate Professor from Assistant professor in a medical college throughout India. Recently medical council of india ammended the rules for the promotion to the post of associate professor in medical colleges stating that an assistant professor may be promoted as an associate professor if he/ she has 4+years experience of assistant professor along with 2 research publications in an index journal. However this term "research publication" has not been defined. None of the index medical journals has any category as research publications in their list of contents. I want to know which articles will be considered as research publications for the same? Can somebody guide me if this information can be extarcted under RTI from MCI and how should i go about it?
The MCI website does not mention the amount which has to be submitted along with RTI application.

Re: Rules and regulations of Medical Council of India (MCI)
Moved to "Ask for framing a RTI question" sectionSponsorer
The application fee is Rs. 10.00
MCI follows the RTI Rules and Fees for the Centre. These are available in the Guide section of the portal: RTI Guide
Under RTI, you can only ask for "information" (Sec 2(f)).
By asking what is meant by "Research Publication" , you are aksing the views and opinion of PIO.
It is better to reframe your question.
Can you ask:
Please provide certified copies of any five "Research Publication" in any Indexed journal by any member of MCI
Will that serve your purpose ? Because you will get 5 "Research Publications" and then you will know what theyaexpect from you for promotion.

Re: Rules and regulations of Medical Council of India (MCI)
Dear sir
This is to inform that MCI in his one of the circulation to medical colleges made it mandatory that existing assistant professor should be promoted to associated professor only after completing 7 year of experience and publication. It over ruling the earlier notification in which it was five year of experience and publication.
