Dear Sumit
Better send IPO again. Its not easy to prove that IPO no. xxxx was attached with application. Please read: http://www.rtiindia.org/forum/8350-h...n-officer.html (How will you prove that your bank draft was recieved by PIO ?)
regards
I had filed an RTI at Nagar Nigam in Agra regarding the street light maintenance. They have sent me a reply saying that they have not recieved the postal order that I had sent. In my application I had mentioned the postal order no. and I have the copy of the postal order right now. I think they are trying to con me by misplacing my postal order and saying they have not received it. What should I do?

Sumit,
PIO has acknowledged the receipt of your application, that means u might have sent ur application by speed post or regd post. Normally the postal charges depend on the weight of the covered envelope and u may confirm the actual weight of ur sealed cover(with application+IPO) from the post office where you had posted. It will help u to prove the PIO to be guilty in due course if there is a probe by the FAA/SIC on your complaint,as the weight of the envelope with application only(with PIO) will be less than that recoded by postoffice.
I think right now I will personally go to the office. Deposit money in person and get a receipt for the cash deposited. Separately I will file a first appeal regarding this irregularity and then the FAA will look into the matter. Iam not going to allow them to get off with this so easily.
I admire your spirit of fighting, but by this you are deviating from your original issue. So instead going before the missing PO, better to send fresh PO by keeping the photo copy. Thanks.

I have the photocopy of this one too but when they dont acknowledge it what can one do? So for now I will deposit cash in person and get a receipt. The appeal part is separate. That I will pursue later.
If you want to avoid such situations in future, please take a xerox of the IPO at the bottom of your application (if there is space) or at the back of your application and write boldly:
"The following IPO has been stapled to this RTI application with a staple circled in XXXX colour pen"
Circle the staple with that particular colour ink.
A great idea. I think this comes as close as possible to a fool proof solution to this problem.
