Can I have RTI query to know if ST is applicable on perticular construction project

Hi,
I wanted to know if I can have RTI query to know if service tax is applicable on the particular agreement we are doing for a specific project.

I've entered in to agreement for sale with SPL (Shriram properties limited) in the Shriram Symphonye project. They are asking for the service tax payment which should not be applicable in current scenario (with new budget proposal it will be applicable after the new notification) as we have the sale deed with builder and not the works contract.

Can this information be sought using RTI?
If yes what can be the format of application?

U can file RTI application with PIO of Service Tax department. RTI application as per: RTI Rules, Fees for Centre and Useful Info about CIC - RTI Guide

No prescribed format for filing RTI application with Central Govt authorities.

Do you know in whose name I can prepare the postal order? I could locate the CPIO here but it does not mention anything about accounts officer.

do you think "Accounts Officer,Deputy Commissioner of Service Tax" should be sufficient.

The service Tax is collected by Central Excise & Customs Department. The addresses of PIO etc are available in following link.

List of CPIOs/CAPIOs

You can pay Application Fee by IPO OR DD in the Name of the Accounts Officer, of the PIO's office.
