Information: IT Return

Hi,

I haven't got my IT returns for the past 2 years - A.Y 2006-07 and 2007-08.
I went through the posts provided for IT returns here, and what i could gather from those was that the most efficient way of making it faster was posting an RTI application.
Do i need to post a regd ad application prior to that or can i just go ahead and file the RTI application?

You can simply submit an application under the RTI Act to the PIO of the IT Authorities of your ward/area accompanied with the fees of Rs.10/- asking about the status of your return/refund.

Ask the names of officials responsible for holding on to your refund. This will lead to some individual accountability being fixed and in turn may help you in getting the job done.

If your returns for those two years shoed a amount due for refund and you gave all your bank details correctly, you should have got the refund. There is no need for a further application to ask for refund. Just go ahead and file a RTI application.

The RTI application with application fee for Rs. 10.00 (by DD/BC/IPO payable to "Accounts Officer") can be sent to the Assessing officer of your ward/circle. He is the relevant PIO for you.
