Abhinav,
1. If you ask for information and do not know how many copies, what costs etc, will the
PIO levy,
please include the following in your last para of the application;
"I am willing to pay whatever charges are levied for obtaining the above information requested by me,
if I am informed by the
PIO in writing with a reasoned order as per Section 7(3)(a) of the
RTI Act 2005"
2. If you are inspecting a file and do not know how many copies you will take, then word the last para of
your application as follows:
"During the inspection of the file/documents, as per my above application under
RTI Act 2005, I might like
to take photocopies or certified copies of certain pages/file notes/documents.etc. For this purpose, I am
willing to pay the charges as specified under the Rule.........(quote the relevant rule of your state or the
centre)"
This will cover all eventualities and will not allow anyone to be smart or oversmart.
