We from a residents assosiation, have filed an FIR in connection with menace from rowdy elements unauthorisedly occupying certain vacant sites in the locality. Even after several months no action is being taken by the police to vacate the people. We would like to invoke RTI act to know the reason for the police not taking action on the FIR. Can anyone help? rajan ji, be very carefull in filing RTI application in the office of PIO, Police Authority. anyway, if you are planned to file a RTI application, ask the daily progress report on your FIR. |

P.G. Rajan, The PS where you filed the FIR will have a SPIO (State Public Information Officer). You can file a RTI with him and ask the progress report on your FIR. Since you are in Karnataka, you RTI application/Fees/Mode of payment has to be as per the Karnataka RTI rules. Please note that these rules were amended recently to allow RTI applications only on one subject matter and restricted to 150 words. |

Further to Karira's reply above, I'd suggest you to file the RTI with the PIO-cum-DCP of your area, instead of the SPIO of the PS. In fact one of my friends' RTI application was not even accepted by the SHO (who's also the APIO) and asked clearly to file it with the DCP directly... All this is for Bangalore itself!

Pl refer to my blog on "any thing pending with govt?" for wording the querry. It is better if RTI appln is sent by speed ad post to the SPIO.
