1. RTI Act is applicable to "public authorities," a term which can extend beyond purely govt or public sector, as several threads on this site discuss. 2. For a question relating to a purely private organization, RTI could be invoked only by posing the question to a regulator, who would be a public authority. So spend some thinking about whether there is some way to pose a question to a regulator that will still give you the information you want about the private entity it regulates. 3. Perhaps you should be prepared for a multi-stage strategy. First file a complaint with the regulator. Then use RTI to ask what the regulator has done regarding your complaint. Best, Murgie |

Peerless is a non-banking financial institution and hence you may approach RBI and lodge a formal non-rti complaint. U can visit Reserve Bank of India - India's Central Bank. If it does not reply, file RTI appln by referring to my blog "Any thing pending with govt?" U can also approach District Consumer Dispute Redressal Forum of your district under Consumer Protection Act by visiting fcamin.nic.in or corecentre.org or consumerhelpline.in It is simple cheap and effective.
