Unanswered: Exit Plan near Nuclear Power Plant

Dear Sir,

I hail from City of Boisar, which happens to be within 10 sq km of Tarapur Atomic Power Station, which is the first Nuclear Power station of India.,Initially TAPP 1 & 2 project & Now TAPP 3 & 4 is also operational.,

We here are facing minimum 6 hours power-cuts throughout the day, all weekdays including Sundays for last 8 years or so.,

Sir,
1. I need to understand information on Policy related to Power supply within specific area which falls under the area of Nuclear / Any other Power generation source operated/ regulated by Central Government.

2. Design of Emergency Combat plan , exit Point from the city or exit road., here the only road connected to Power Station is so narrow, & has huge traffic throughout the day, that it is bound to face stampede in emergency time.

I personally feel, at the time of Emergency / or untoward incident, in such sensitive area, there need to be regular sources of Electricity to combat any kind of eventuality.

Please help me understand this query.
Thank you>
Yours truly,
Kishor Pawar

Re: Exit Plan near Nuclear Power Plant

Kishor,

1. For your query on power supply, you need to address your RTI application to the local Power Distribution company. Just check who is issuing your electric bills.

2. For the emergency evacuation plan, you can address your query to the PIO of TAPS.
As per the Nuclear Power Corporation website Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited there is only a APIO at TAPS and he will forward your RTI application to the PIO:

Name V.S. Daniel
APIO under the RTI Act 2005
Designation Sr.Technical Audit Engineer, QA Section
Address P.O.: TAPP Colony
Boisor, Thane Dist.
PIN: 401504
Telephone Off. (02525) 282375
Resi.(02525) 264021
E.mail ID vsdaniel@npcil.co.in

Please also read the exhaustive suo motto declaration under Sec 4 available here:

Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited

That might have the answers to some of your queries.

In case you want to file your RTI application directly with the PIO, his details are available is Section xvi of the above document.

For help in drafting, submission, fees, RTI rules, etc...please visit the exhaustive guide segment of this portal.

Kishor,

This happens very often. Because the id is given to the officer in his name. If he gets transferred, the id is closed and the email bounces back. Try calling him.

In any case you have all the details for your RTI application.
