since settling down at chennai I an trying to get a ration card since that seems to be the passport without which you cant get anything done.Please someone help me to & tell me how to get one. Can I apply on line? There was an announcement by one minister of the state govt that ration card application will be available online from june and those applying for fresh cards will have to wait till the announcement.What is the possition ? Any info available?

sir,

u need to apply in the office of Consumer Supplies office for a ration card.

after if they dont issue you a ration card (which they WILL NOT) try to fill a RTI application duly with the RTI fees as prevailing in your state.

Sir,
u need to apply for the ration card with civil supplies department by filling form affixing photographs etc., The department will gives u a time for the issue of ration card. It is also to mention that the revenue officials will not issue card without gressing their plams.
If u will not get ration card with in time the submit an application by paying Rs.10/= Under RTI Act 2005 to the public Information Officer. As per provision in the act of RTI every department must display the names of PIO & APIO as well as appellete authority's name out side their office

while darfting your rti application dont forget to mention that your avaliability at home is for 24 hrs a day and was since you applied for a ration card.

this because while answering your rti application, i fear they will blame you in this way -

"Sir, your house was found locked by our officers when they personally visited your place to confirm your identity and residence."

your enthusiasm is highly appreciated.Please go through post 1 again,Major has yet to apply for a ration card under normal procedure ,that is why procedure applicable for "How to Get Ration Card in Chennai " given at bighelpers.org was recommended ,at Post 3 above .

the discharge Gx , of yours will say " cease to draw ration in Kind " . I think ( i am not sure ) that the application , alongwith last Gx should do your job . Otherwise , approach a VAO / Thasildhar for not holding of ration card , which is accepted bycivil supplies department .

after posting the above , i have spoken to one of the Asst commissioner (CS) . He has also confirmed that the following documents are required for provision /application of ration card.

1. Filled application with photograph
2. one proof of residence (for eg., tel / mobile bill on your name )
3. last surrender certificate issued from your last unit.
4. release / retirement Gx (ceasing of ration Gx) & Xerox copy of your Ex servicemen I card

Please go in person to the concerned office between 10 AM to 1 PM for submission of the application .It takes hardly 05 Minutes for verification and acknowledgement handing over .
