Hello! I am Sangeeta

Dear fellow members: I am a new member to the forum and I have joined to use the resources it has to offer to promote and popularise RTI in Madhya Pradesh> With a law and journalism/communication background and part of Centre for Research and Education (CREED) a knowledge NGO based in MP and AP, I ask my first three questions:

[1] Who are the players and what has so far happened in MP to promote and popularise RTI? Any awareness activity so far?

[2] What strategy(ies) have so far been used in India (or elsewhere) to make communities / community leaders aware of RTI and seek information which they rightfully should get

[3] Which agencies and organisations lend support (of various kinds, including financial) to spread awareness of RTI and then seek legal aid, if required.

Thanks a lot.

Best regards
Sangeeta

Hello Sangita,

Welcome to RTIindia.Org.

The information you mentioned are very pertinent.

Under section 26 of the act it's the State Govt.'s resposibility to popularise the Act among the masses. In this case the State Govt. of M.P. must be doing something in this regards. But almost all cases these kind of efforts by State Govt.s are few and far between. Not much has been done in the last 3 years.

Since you are from M.P. and due to your background as a Journalist you can seek these information from the Govt. of M.P. using RTI Act and chronicle the same.

That will be an eye opener to all.

Sidharth
