How can I get information from Railways Office regarding foul smell and dirty water supplied by Railway authorities in Railway Colony.

Dear Sir,

I have been in Railway Colony in Ghaziabad since 2000 and since then I am using the foul smell and dirty drinking water. Sometimes, the water has been so dirty that its color changes to yellowish cum muddy with some dirty things like hairs and tiny insects.

It comes under the supervision of SSE (Senior Section Engineer) of Northern Railway Ghaziabad. But nobody complained it. They fears that they will be scold off because this type of water is being used last so many years.

People have been suffering from stomach, kidney, infection in stomach and skins problem etc due the water. But no body wants to complain it because of their railway services.

I want to know how can I get details of date of cleanness of Water Tank (Tanki) which delivers water to whole colony and there is medicine / power pours in water tank to purify the water and date of construction of Water Tank (Tanki) through RTI. But I am not concerned to Railways. Can I get information regarding the above subjects.

Kindly let me know the address of PIO and procedure to get the information.

Dear sir,

I received your response at the earliest. But there is a doubt that I am not concerned with the Railway. However, I can get the information from Railway authorities? Will they (Railway concerned authorities) ask me whether I am concerned with Railway or not ? or Why do you want information regarding railway department while you are not concerned with railway.

If they will ask then What do I answer. I mean, I want to know that any person / body from anywhere and any information which he wants, Can ask information through RTI or not whether he / she is not concerned with that department.

Another question is that Whether PIO or Appelate Authority refuse to accept and send back my application then, where I can apply for those information and what should I do that time.

Even if you are not connected to railways, you can ask any details about functioning of railways. All Div Commercial Managers [DCM]are CPIOs for railways and U can file RTI application with any DCM. He will redirect within 5 days to the correct CPIO. Please use following format:

Central Govt application:

and attach postal order of Rs.10/- favouring "Accounts Officer, Indian Railways"

You can also complain to Health Dept of Municipal Corp under which colony is situated. He can get water tested in lab and take action against railways.
