RTI success story: Payment from Animal Husbandry department
My colleague, who was earlier working as a Veterinary Assistant Surgeon with the Tamilnadu Animal Husbandry department, got selected as Assistant Professor in Veterinary University and got his relief. His surrender leave salary and other emoluments to the tune of Rs.20000 was pending with the office of the Asst Director of Animal Husbandry (ADAH) for almost 2 years. One day he received a news that the amount had already been 'disbursed' to him, as the office had included the amount against his signature (made for another acquittance)in the pay acquittance register!!
I asked him to file an information request to the office of the ADAH, demanding to see the bill register, undisbursed pay (UDP) register, in-coming tapal register and pay acquittance register. Presto!! He received a check for Rs.18000 in 14 days flat, with an oral request from the office not to pursue the issue any further.I asked him to persist with the request and I think the issue is with the Commission now.
