Dear members, In the year 2004 I had applied twice for housing loan from ICICI bank, however my pre-approval sanction was rejected informing verbally that I am a defaulter as credit card holder with ICICI bank. I never applied or had credit card of ICICI bank. That time the interest rate was around 7.50 to 8.00%(fixed), floating was little lower. I had to take housing loan from SBI bank @8.00% (fixed for 3 years). Now due to soaring inflation the interest rate has almost doubled, I will paying EMI @13% from December onwards. Had my loan would have been sanctiond through ICICI, my interest rate would have been around 8% for the entire period. This is sheer negligence on the part of ICICI staff. Now, I want to know whether I can get information/reason for rejecting the loan. Can I file RTI with ICICI bank. Please help, Thanks, Robert D'Souza Last edited by robertub; 07-21-2008 at 09:34 AM. ICICI bank is not a public authority and is not covered under the RTI Act. So you can not seek any information from it under the RTI Act. But for this act of so called negligence you can seek redressal to your grievance from the Consumer Forum as this deficiency of service is covered under the Consumer Protection Act 1986. |

But getting a loan can not be claimed at Right. Every bank has powers to reject any application without giving any reason.
