Defeat is not final when you fall down. It is final when you refuse to get up.

You have to write to the PIO, Kolkata Municipal Corporation, 5, S.N.Banerjee Road Kolkata and you may send it through speed post or personally submit it in their 1st floor office, in front of Elite cinema Hall. You have to paste a Rs10 Court fee stamp over the application. You should not forget to have a receipt of your application.--- Abhijeet

    Re: Kolkata Municipal Corporation

I recently wrote a letter addressed to the Public Information Officer , Kolkata Municipal Corporation at the above address about seeking some information from the trade license department .The letter was sent as a Registered with A/D. However, the envelope has been returned back unopened with the comment that " No such department, department not known or found" . My queries asunder
    1) Who should we address the letter to . Is it just the PIO or specific name of the person or perhaps do we need to mention the name of the department after addressing the PIO? It seems that the mail department does not receive any letters addressed just to the PIO?

    Re: Kolkata Municipal Corporation

    Address it to:

    State Public Information Officer
    under RTI Act 2005
    Trade License Department
    Kolkata Municipal Corp[oration
    ...
    ....
    ...

Boldly mark the envelope as "RTI Application"

Avoid putting individual names, just in case the officer has been transferred.
