LIC claim
Dear Sir,
I submitted LIC death claim on 29th July'09 and yet to receive the settlement. LIC Death claim submitted by me in Gudiyattam branch with original documents for the policy no(. 734207640, policy holder - K.Gopinath). When enquired the branch manager said they are not able to process the death claim as he had received rival claim letter from my mother in law and the rival procedure is going on.
I am the nominee for this policy. can anyone else claim this policy? Recently, the branch said they settled this claim. Can they do this without my knowledge? Please help me to proceed in this.
Thanks
Hema

Re: LIC claim
You can file RTI application with ACPIO of LIC office where matter is pending seeking photocopies of all the papers pertaining to settlement of claim. Please mention as a note that you are nominee to the policy and also mention your relation with deceased policy holder. Please refer:Sponsorer
Central Govt application:

Make effective:

On getting papers, consult retired LIC official or LIC agent to find out if there is any foul play. You can then lodge complaint with LIC HO and also file case in Consumer Court of your District.
I may add that nominee is just a trustee of real heirs of the deceased. Nominee [if he is not heir/one of heirs] is not owner or joint owner of claim amount but an agent to receive claim amount on behalf of real heirs. However I understand that wife has priority in payment of claim amount as per some judgements of courts.,
WE GET GOVT WE DESERVE. WHAT DO YOU PLAN FOR 2013?
