U can file application under RTI with the ward office, by giving as much details as U have with you and stating your relation as heir of the property owner, and obtain "Copy of register of municipal tax collection relating to your property." Once U have these details, U can contact a good advocate, who will carry out search in sub registrar office under whom the property falls for 30 years. Based on this search report, U can obtain duplicate certified copy of title deed through RTI from the office of sub-registrar or with the help of your advocate. If U do not know any advocate, contact nearest branch of a nationalised bank and request them to give name and contact details of 2-3 advocates on their panel who carry search of properties for the bank in the area. All the best.
