Need Help: How filing the tax for Period 2005-06 and get refund Amt

Dear Sir/Madam

I left office in India on Aug-2005 and return to back in india on back on Jan-2008. I have submitted the Returns for the financial Year 2007-08 with no issues. But for the financial Year 01/04/2005 to 31/03/2006 I was not in India so couldn’t submit the Tax returns. I got the Form-16 for those periods from my office few weeks before and came to know that I suppose to get amount Rs 20,347 Refund. When I tried approach the consultant over here he said, it is not passable to submit returns for that period also I can't get the Refund Money back
Kindly some one help me provide is it passable any way to do that same

Welcome to this portal and thanks for being with us. Kindly contact a good chartered accountant. My CA friend has advised that U can write to Income Tax Officer and Commissioner of I. T. under which you are assessed, narrating your problem and reasons for not filing the return in time. He can issue notice u/s 142 or 147 of IT Act asking U to file return for FY 2005-06. On receipt of such a notice, U can file the same and claim the refund. There is a way out. All the best.
