Welcome to this portal.U can file RTI application with the CPIO of customs dept by giving details of your transactions and how u are connected to the info U desire to seek. For format and guidelines pl visit my blog and ALL ABOUT RTI icon on home page of this portal. Pl visit website of custom dept [RTI icon] for address of CENTRAL PUBLIC INFORMATION OFFICER [CPIO] or you can just mail by regd ad post to CPIO of the nearest custom office, who is required to direct the appln to correct office within 5 days of receipt by him.

himanshu, The information you are trying to seek from Customs under RTI, will most likely be denied because of "Commercial Confidence" and "no relation to any public interest". |

I dont think that this information can be denied by labeling it as commercial confidence. The contents of a container have to be disclosed to the customs office and excise dept etc. This is not done in secrecy. Though unlikely, but if refused, one can argue that the information falls in public interest as it is necessary for one to determine if the goods being imported are not prohibited from import and whether sufficient custom duty was paid on them etc etc etc ![]() |
