Re: Need help in rti application

Welcome to RTI forum Abhi. This is of course a good format. But I suggest to begin your question with "Please provide me" or "Please intimate me" etc.. for example for question 1.

1) Please let me know the criteria for choosing customers for providing Loan Products (Credit Card, Personal Loan, Home loan etc.)

That will make your application more impressive and polite.

Re: Need help in rti application

Abhi,

Your RTI applications have to be as per the RTI Rules for the centre.
These are available in the guide section of this forum.
(Mentioning this since your application mentions something about a Registered AD 10 Rs. stamp).

You can also ask for certified copies of Rules and Regulations, Circulars, Notices, etc, where applicable in each of your queries.

Re: Need help in rti application

Pl apply to nationalised banks only. For private banks U will have to route through RBI. U should pay filing fee of Rs.10/- by postal order in favour of the bank and payable at the place where application is filed. Better send to CPIO at H.O. of banks. Pl visit ALL ABOUT RTI icon on home page and GUIDE section on top of this page.

Re: Need help in rti application

Im not so sure about the application being routed through RBI thing.Private banks as far as I know, are not covered under RTI Act. Furthermore, I think one does not need to ask for this information from private banks through RTI Act. You just forward them an application seeking the above information and most of them would be happy to comply with your request for information.

As far as my understanding of RTIA goes, the RBI can only reveal information to you which does not fall in ss8 or 9 and is accessible to RBI under any prevalent law of the land. Thus it would be better if you were to include the details of the law under which RBI has access to this information regarding private banks. This could be law/rule/policy what ever. You will have to cite it. But in anycase i dont see you getting this information without a first appeal atleast.
Better for you to stick to the first option and forward a simple and polite request for information directly to the private banks.

Re: Need help in rti application

If you stick to your option of filing an RTI application, then include this question in the end

Quote:
Q: Information accessible to any government official regarding private bodies under any prevalent law of the land and not revealed in confidence, falls under the purview of RTI Act 2005 and can not be refused to the applicant. Kindly let me know as to which laws/rules/policies/guidelines give you access to the above information regarding private banks.
Interestingly, in one of the decisions (couldn't locate the link) the applicant had sought information in to the workings of a private school. The information was denied as the school was outside the purview of RTIA2005. However, the CIC in the second appeal ruled that the information has to be provided. How? Well a government officer was member of the board of the school. The requested information though not revealed to the government, was accessible to the Govt. Officer in personal capacity. Thus he was instructed to provide the same. Interesting indeed.

Dude, a humble request! Please put the file up in simple text format or as pdf file. You see, not all of us use Microsoft Word (especially 2007).

Re: Need help in rti application

foru,

Private banks are not PA's as defined in the RTI Act.
RBI can be approached for information that it has access to.

I do not think that RBI has access to the procedural aspects of a private banks operation.

You can try, but most probably you will get a reply that the information you requested cannot be accessed by RBI.

Re: Need help in rti application

Since RBI is the regulator for all the Banks (private as well as public), we can ask question from RBI itself like this :

1)Please provide me Information REGARDING criteria for choosing customers for providing Loan Products (Credit Card, Personal Loan, Home loan etc.) by xxxxxx bank.

RBI cant say that he is not aware about the rules of that private bank. He will either get reply or forward the application to the private bank.

Re: Need help in rti application

one more thing i just see hdfc has HDFC Bank Health Plus International Credit Card - India's first health Care Credit Card with a free inbuilt Cashless Mediclaim. This card comes to you from HDFC Bank in association with the United India Insurance Company (UIIC), one of the leading insurance service providers. so then in this case UIIC IS A PUBLICE LTD CO. NOT A PRIVATE.....SO HDFC MAY COVER UNDER RTI.OR I NEED TO SEND RTI TO UIIC
