Question: time period of information can be asked in RTI.

Sikkim has enforced RTI rule ,in which it says in one of its clause :-
[LEFT](a) The Information sought for relates to any occurrence, event or matter which has taken place, occurred or happened 20 years before the date on which request is made under these rules and if such information is found to be more than 20 years from such date, the request shall not be entertained, and in any c
information sought for falling under clauses (b), (d) and (j) below shall not be furnished subject to the extent of permissibility provided therein;

Can a state government enforce the time period of information sought?[/LEFT]

No, the State Government only has powers (under Sec 27) to frame rules:

1. The appropriate Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, make rules to carry out the provisions of this Act.

If the basic act itself has not provided for any time period for the disclosure of information, the Rules framed under the Act cannot do so.
