In the past few days I have noticed that many people approach this forum with problems for which they are seeking solutions. In most such cases the member is asked to visit the sister forum bighelpers. But, would it not be a part of this forum if the seeker was seeking solutions to his problem with the help of RTI. For example in the above case, RTI could be used to solve the matter as far as i know. So then does this thread become a valid part of this forum?? or does the visitor still have to go to bighelper?? |

jiwateshwar, Most guests identify this forum through search engines when they key in search words like "income tax refund" or "provident fund" or "epf" or "passport delay" or "ration card issue", etc. Just try spending some time on SE's and you will know why this portal gets so many "hits" On perusing the forum, some of them just post their query like "Can I know my PF balance for account nr.........". These members need some instant information which is unfortunately beyond the scope of this portal (unless of course there is a member here who is from the PF/EPF department and can take the issue up in his organisation). In the past, the administrator of this portal realised that there were many queries being posted which were not related to RTI but the poser could nevertheless be benefited by the collective knowledge of members. In order to keep this portal for exclusive RTI issues, the sister forum www.bighelpers.org was started. This is a "open public forum" where anyone can read what has been posted but needs to become a member in order to make a post. If a guest has some doubt, he/she can very well refer to the large data base of the forum. That will give him a clear idea if his issue can be addressed using RTI or not. I think unless the member/guest expresses his wish to use RTI, it will not be appropriate to "push" him into using RTI. For example, if you read some of my posts, in reply to new members general query's, I always ask "Do you want to use RTI ?" - if I feel that the issue can be resolved thorugh RTI. In the above post by Gayathri (jpgaya) she has only asked how she can get refund for AY 2005-06 from Noida since she is now in Chennai. The issue can be easily resolved without using RTI. Hence I feel that Dinesh's reply redirecting her to bighelpers.org is appropriate in this case. |
