What are the various status & SLA for Passport Renewal/Issuance on the online passport status site?

For someone trying to figure out the current status of their application . . . knowing what are the various statuses on the online passport status site at http://passportstatus.nic.in/ would be useful. My passport renewal status is currently "Your application is in process" . . . What does it mean? What steps in the process are completed? What are pending?

Also, what is the SLA as well as generally expected timelines for the application completed from each of these statuses . . . e.g., if an application's status is "Your application is in process", the standard is that you should get your passport in 15 days . . . but, typically, you would get it in 1 month . . .

Also, my last passport was issued in the US . . . could that lead to a delay in processing?

I applied just over a month ago . . . so it is not as delayed as some of the other posts on this site . . .
