    Service Tax Registration Certificate

I have applied online at Welcome to ACES Homepage for Service Tax Registration Certificate. I submitted copy of the application alongwith the required documents by hand to the officer in-charge, Service Tax Cell. I can see from the website that the certificate was issued the next day. However, when I went to the office to collect the same, the officer was asking for Rs 5,000/-. As far as I know, there is no fee/charge to get a service tax registration certificate.

So, how do I file a RTI complaint against this in order that I get the certificate without paying any money?

I learned from the website that the CPIO is the Deputy Commissioner of the Customs Division. Is he the same person in whose name I have to make the Postal Order of Rs 10?

    Re: Service Tax Registration Certificate

    Dear Member

RTI is meant for seeking info not for filing complaint. Options u have:

If u have filed any complaint earlier, u can file RTI application seeking action taken report on your complaint.

Or u can file RTI application for status of your registration certificate.

RTI application as per: RTI Rules, Fees for Centre and Useful Info about CIC - RTI Guide

As per rules RTI fee of Rs. 10/- by D.D./B.C./IPO has to be in favour of ACCOUNTS OFFICER and payable at place where u are submitting RTI application.
