Passport Received within 30 days after filing RTI which was pending for 8 months

Hi All,
Here is another success story.

I had applied for passport renewal in Jan, 2010 in Chennai Passport office, and after that nothing happened. My police verification was pending since last 8 months and passport office was not giving any reason for delay. I sent 6-7 emails but no reply, visited passport office personally but no progress.

At last, I filed RTI application on 09-08-2010 and Police came to my house on 18-08-2010 for address verification and received my passport on 03-09-2010.
The timeline of 30 days yet to finish for RTI reply and work is done.
What a great tool to get work done from Govt. offices.
Thanks for all guidance, I used RTI template available in this forum for passport office.
