Regimental Fund

Regimental funds held with Military units are increasing exponetially awaiting to be mis-used. This Fund is considered the Private Fund held hostage to a select few. Why this fund should not be merged into the consolidated funds of India ?

Dear Mandal,
Do you know how the regimental funds are built and spent ? Do you know that the Regimental Funds are under more close scrutiny than the public fund ? It is being regularly audited every month by unit and a Quarterly Audit board compossed of only officers detailed by Station HQ. You may believe it or not - the Rgimental funds are better managed than the public funds. Unlike the civil auditors of Local Audit Team, Officers of the Quarterly Audit Board are of very high calibre.With the type of bureaucratic control over public fund, the Army will not be able to function the way it is functioning without the help from regimental fund. Please leave it. If you have time to spare, there are many avenues needing attention from volunteers.

RTI is all about right to info and not about mis-info. For your info Regimental Funds are also being audited by civil chartered accountants at some cost.The local auditors who are auditing each and every public funds alloted to Armed forces are quite capable of auditing such private funds as well.
About how this fund is generated , let's not call for a public debate to expose our ignorance. My observation is based on my personal experience of a very long period and i stand by each and every observation made there in. As for the calibre there are so many people of high calibre are corrupt to the core both in civil society and in military as well . It is all about bringing change for the best. Regimental Funds in the hands of Military officers are being mis-used . I advocate that this funds be merged into consolidated funds of India.

Your above response indicate that you are from Local Audit department who carry out audit of accounts of defence units. As an Army Officer who has been OC unit for long I have been maintaining a very very poor opinion on lower level auditors of Local Audit Deartment in general . The present attempt of attribuiting ignorance of Regimental Fund on persons like me confirm my preconceived opinion . NO MORE COMMENTS PLEASE.
