Owenership of the vacant plot

I want to know who is the owener of the vacant plot next to our house since it is vacant for a long time, can i come to know the details from the revelant municipal office through RTI act.

yes it is possible; but even without the RTI, you can get a certified copy of the document of the vacant plot by paying the prescribed fee at the registrar's office

This is something I would like to bring to the attention of all members of this forum. Many municipalities in India have put up the property details on the internet. Thus if one was to search for the appropriate links in the website, it could lead you to the site from where you can see details of all properties which have been assessed for Property Tax in the past few years.

There is no guarantee that the information you seek would be there on the site, but it is much better to try this than visiting the offices and paying fee for forms etc.

If you know the number etc. (the details) of the vacant plot, you can simply obtain the details by getting a "encumberance certficate" from the Registrar's office for your area (some people might call it property registrar office).

There is no need for using RTI.
