My passport file no. LKOz880984 dated 01.06.2006, which was submitted in Varanasi passport office, is still pending. Further, in 2006 I was transferred from Varanasi to Agra and the same was intimated to the PO Lucknow for better communication purpose. On dated 20.10.2006,i received a letter from Passport Officer Lko saying that your area(Agra) falls in the jurisdiction of Bareilly so your papers are being transferred to Passport Office ,Bareilly. In the month of December 2006, Passport Officer, Bareilly informed me by speed post that Agra comes in the Jurisdiction of passport office,Gaziabad, instead of Bareilly, So the papers/file is being send to the passport Office Gaziabad. Since then,no response was received from the office.Even after several written requests, matter is still pending. How and from where can i know the status of my passport. |

It will be better to file 2 separate RTI applications - the first with the RPO which sent you the last letter (Bareilly) and the second with RPO Ghaziabad. |

Vimal, Just make a simple application on a plain paper asking for the "information" that you require. Several general RTI application formats are available on the forum: http://www.rtiindia.org/guide/how-to...application-1/ |

Vimal, In item 4 just ask for "certified evidence" instead of "evidence". Change Item 5 to: Under Sec 4(1)(d) of the RTI Act 2005, please provide me the reason or reasons for the applications not being disposed off in spite of over 20 months having passed since, as per information received, my application for passport was sent to RPO Ghaziabad, since I am the "affected person". |

vimal, i think if you send a copy of the same to the CPIO Ghaziabad, it wont be a harm in any way but can/may speed up the process. you can send the complete copy of your RTI application to the CPIO Ghaziabad, with a covering letter to him and also requesting him to expedite your case if it is into his knowledge. |

There is no cuch thing as a "copy of the RTI application". Sending copies will be just like sending ordinary letters and will not serve any purpose since the RTI Act is not being invoked. Abhishek probably means a "similar" or "same" RTI application to RPO Ghaziabad, with separate fees, etc. |

karira ji, i've file about 10-12 RTI application in the office of CPIO, RPO, Ghziabad. and i very well know the kind of man he is. and i suggested vimal to send a carbon copy of his RTI application to CPIO, Delhi and not to file a new RTI application. probably after receiving the copy of the RTI application, the CPIO cum Passport Officer, Ghaziabad will issue some message on back dated letters and will try to settle the matter there itself. |

Prabhat, If it is just a "copy" of the RTI, it will not have the same weight as a RTI application itself. Since the CPIO, Ghaziabad RPO is not under any obligation to act on a copy. |

Vimal, Like everywhere else in life, you will get many suggestions on this forum BUT ultimately you have to decide the best course of action - because you know your case the best. |
