How do you propose that Income Tax Information would wheel you out of this trouble? If you are unaware, let me tell you that Dowry neither taxable and nor a valid ground for tax exemption. ![]() |

Dear Parveen, If you ask copy of Income Tax form surely they will not provide as this will need third party permission under section 11 of the RTI Act. However you can ask the certain details of the Income Tax payee which dont disclose his personal details. For example you can ask for the total gross income, net profit, tax paid etc. which as per my opinion or not covered in "Personal information". You can ask for the list of items from your in-laws on a affidavit and then file a Tax Evasion Petition (TEP) against them. Then after three weeks you can prefer an RTI application to Income Tax asking them about the action they have taken on the TEP. You can also ask for the copy of TEP. Do remember that as per law both giving and taking dowry are an offense. Your in-laws have equally committed an offense in this case. Please also refer the following decisions of CIC http://cic.gov.in/CIC-Orders/Decision_08052006_2.pdf
