Need Help: passport retrieval

Hey Pals,

I applied for passport in 2006 when I was student in Chennai, under Tatkaal scheme as I was required to produce it at the time of joining the job. Before I could have got the passport, or the local verification done; I had to move to Noida as joining date got preponed. Permanent address verification was done from Bhilwara, Rajasthan (my home town).
Status shows that passport returned back to chennai office by postal department.
How do I get the passport here in Noida? Can I apply for a new one from Gaziabad office, giving reference file no. of older one as I never took passport? Or, If i have to reopen the older issue from Gaziabad, what is the procedure?

Any information will be highly helpful.

there is nothing much to worry.

simply write a letter to the RPO, Chennai stating that after applying for a passport you got a job in NOIDA and u have moved to noida.

give them your NOIDA address alogwith the proof.

I tried calling Chennai Passport Office to find out what exactly will be required so that i can send those things right away without any multiple round trips but unfortunately language problem(they don't get anything in English).

It will be helpful if you or anybody here can tell me exactly what should I be sending other than address proof. Is there any additional charge (DD etc) as they might be changing the address in passport to my current Noida address? Any additional official form along with address proof? I guess PP Form will be required.
