IT Refund 1 of 2 received on the 8th day of RTI application

Hi RTI Team,

I would like to share a good news with you all. I had applied for RTI based on the info in RTIINIA.org for 2 IT refunds last week (26-Oct-2010).

I got the refund check for one of the 2 IT refund (Rs.6560/-)with detailed calculations. They have mentioned that they got undelivered for my old address and hence could not proceed further. The cheque had the old date and the ward officer has modified it and had sent it to me.

One question I have here is Since I was untraceable in my old address and the cheque was already created, am I not eligible for the interest? Please confirm.

I am waiting for the 2nd IT which is actually close to Rs.30,000/-. Hope they reply soon.

Hi RTI Team,

I got my 2nd IT refund yesterday. This was done after my First Appeal. However the interest calculation is incorrect. I am filing an appeal once again.

Please remember that you used RTI to get "information".
When you were not satisfied with the "information" provided or not provided, you filed a First Appeal.

Do not confuse the "interest" part with you RTI related appeals.

What you can do is file another RTI to get certified copies of all your case papers including file notings.
These will tell you exactly what happened and the place where the interest part went missing as well as whether the calculation is correct or not and who goofed up.
